On the other hand, depending on who your Angel is it can present an opportunity. We're currently based at an artist studio (www.frictionarts.com) and they're keen to go into new territory. They're really keen to have us in their space and will be eventually working us into their programme of events.

It's not ideal but, for me, if it helps spread awareness of technology and hacking and helps meld together the fragmented mess that is the tech community where I live then it's good!

I've been running a hackerspace in Birmingham, England for seven months (www.fizzpop.org.uk) and after reading your article I see that we fall into Angel space category. I completely agree with the advantages and disadvantages this brings as we're having to face this soon as our hosts will be leaving for the winter.

I feel that the reason that we've opted for this approach is that we're almost having to create the hacker scene and then give it a home. To say that I've done everything to promote the space and draw in members would be a lie/overstatement, but there has definitely been a struggle to at least get people to come, let alone to gather enough interest and finances to acquire premises.

With that said, your article gives a great insight to the other options. I just hope that at some point we can consider them
